Mayor Anderson called the regular meeting of the Town Council to order at 7:53 p.m. In attendance were Councilors Joe Clark, Georgette Cole, Sylvie Favret, and Marida Hines. Also in attendance was Maintenance Supervisor Jim Fletcher.

Approval of the Agenda

Georgette Cole moved, Marida Hines seconded that the Agenda be approved. Vote: 4-0.

Maintenance Report

Jim presented his monthly written report. There was a discussion about whether or not the Town should continue with the maintenance contracts on our heating and cooling systems as they are up for renewal.

Invasive Species Eradication Project

Georgette Cole explained the new plan for reforestation enclosures in the woods. They will be installed in September or October and planted in October or November. Georgette will formally present this to the Council including dollar amounts and other details. Betsy Klinger recommended a field trip to Meadowside Gardens to see their enclosures. Ann Briggs talked about the current eradication project of “slash and spray” which will begin phase II at the end of the week. She said that signs will go up by Wednesday at the latest. The spraying and cutting will happen on Thursday and Friday.

Unlawful Harassment Policy & Debt Management Policy

Charlie Challstrom explained the changes and presented the updated policies. Most of the discussion was about the Debt Management policy. The Mayor and Council will act on these at the September 14th meeting.

Gaithersburg West Master Plan – Discussion

The Mayor and Council reviewed a letter to Phil Andrews that lays out the Town’s concerns about this plan. A discussion ensued. The deadline for comments is September 1st.

Mayor’s Announcements

Mayor Anderson reported that he will continue to meet with County Council members concerning these properties. His hope is to meet with all members by September 14th.

New Business

There was a brief discussion about putting some information in the Bulletin about Tick Tubes.
