25 May 2016
Meeting attendees: Georgette Cole, Audrey Maskery, Deborah Mehlferber, Carolyn O’Connor and John Compton.
New Plantings on Lower Ridge Road: Dead material installed last year to help block headlights form Picea View Court was removed by Town Maintenance. Leatherleaf viburnum has been identified as a species likely to do better there. Audrey is researching the best sources for purchase.
Arbor Day activities (April 30) went well. Audrey, Carolyn, Cynthia, Deborah and Margo Cavenaugh and Terry Cox cleared vegetation and pruned material in the azalea bed west of Grove Road. Brenda and Georgette cleared weeds from the Rhododendron bed east of Grove Road. Iris bulbs are planned for this bed as well and will be planted soon by Audrey and Cynthia.
Georgette will write our next Bulletin text. It will be a request for tree and tree location suggestions from residents interested in the fall (and future) tree planting.
Summer is slow for the Forestry and Beautification group and so we agreed our next meeting will be the 4th Thursday in August as we prepare for the fall planting season.
Next meeting: Thursday August 25.
