/* The Divi child theme test */ Forestry and Beautification Meeting Minutes October 2016 | Town of Washington Grove
301-926-2256 washgrove@comcast.net

27 October 2016

Meeting attendees: Georgette Cole, Audrey Maskery, Deborah Mehlferber, and John Compton.

Plans for Fall tree planting:

We discussed the map of tree planting locations. The three large caliper trees were installed by Ace Tree Movers on October 24. Most of the Stadler trees will be planted November 2 with the last 2 field grown black gums arriving later in November. All F&B members were encouraged to participate in at least part of the Stadler tree planting on Nov 2. We make sure the workers have a member of F&B (this has usually been Audrey and Georgette) monitoring the work. We ensure tree cages are removed (if present), container grown tree roots are cut to encourage outgrowth, and trees are planted at the correct depth. The Stadler workers are generally experienced men and know what to do, but we’ve found an interested Town participant is often helpful.

Audrey brought her text for the October Bulletin, titled “What’s That? Grasses: Japanese stilt grass, wavyleaf basket grass and bamboo.”

Virginia Quesada, an interested new Grove resident and potential new member attended.

Next meeting: Thursday November 17 (early due to Thanksgiving).
