Special Town Meeting

PURPOSE: The Town Council approved the decision of the Planning Commission to locate any dog park in the Town at site 3A, in the West Woods. With the location decided, this meeting has been called by the Mayor and Council in order to discuss and possibly vote on constructing a dog park in Washington Grove.
On March 12, 2018, the Dog Park Workgroup recommended “Site 3A,” identified in their report and located in the West Woods near the parking lot, as the best site for any potential dog park in Washington Grove. On April 4, 2018, the Planning Commission recommended to the Town Council any approved dog park should be located on Site 3A. On April 9, 2018, The Town Council approved the decision of the Planning Commission to locate any dog park in the Town on that site. The Town Council has received many letters, and heard public appearances by many residents, stating opinions both for and against creating a dog park in the Town. With the location decided, this meeting has been called by the Mayor and Council for the Town residents to discuss and possibly vote on whether a dog park should be constructed in Washington Grove. The Town Charter requires that the Mayor preside at all Town Meetings.
