Project Review

No projects had been submitted for review.

PC/HPC work session on Mansionization

The members discussed subgroup preparation for the upcoming work session. David Stopak and Mimi Styles had met with PC member Samantha Beres regarding their focus topics of overlay zones and waiver procedures. Bob Booher also presented the results of his subgroup on zoning envelope controls and the viewpoints of the other PC members in the group.

Contributing House Identification Template

Mimi Styles and Sandy Klingenberg developed a template that can be used to briefly describe each of the contributing structures when the ownership changes. Mimi had filled the first one out for the house at 405 Brown Street, a recent new neighbor. It included copies of information in the archive and in the listing on the website. Bob Booher volunteered to write a cover letter of welcome explaining the role of the HPC and the historic nature of the Town. It was decided not to have it be provided in the welcome kit that is provided by the Women’s Club as there does not seem to be that regular function anymore. Mimi volunteered to deliver it once it was complete.

Annual Renovation Award

The members reviewed the eligible projects form the previous two years, few in number due to the recession. It was unanimously agreed that the addition and renovation to the house at 119 Grove Avenue belonging to Howard Harary was the clear winner. It is a plain 1950s ranch house that has achieved a satisfying balance of porches, rooflines and well proportioned windows that allows the house to snuggle right into a comfortable compatibility with its more venerable neighbors

Adjournment

The next meeting will be Tues, May 18, 2010, starting at 7:30pm.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
