Approval of Minutes

The minutes for April were approved as corrected.

Ridge Road Subdivisions

Pat Houston, owner of 346 Ridge Road, presented plans with revised property lines and his Building Permit was approved.

John McClelland reported that Town Forester Dan Landry has recommended that Ellis Development replace a 28-inch oak tree that the construction traffic is damaging with 14 two-inch trees along Ridge Road. Also discussed was a proposal to have Ellis Development widen Ridge Road at the sharp right bend by adding 3 to 4 feet on the field side of the road. All commissioners agreed with these proposals.

Railroad Park

John McClelland reported that Action Hauling has placed a storage shed on Grove property behind Railroad Park per an agreement with John Compton. The Planning Commission recommends that the Town Council limit the rental agreement to a maximum of four weeks at a rental rate of $100.

Parking on Town Property

John McClelland initiated a discussion regarding the use of Town parks and/or forest preservation areas for parking. Vicki Andrews moved for the Town Council not to grant special exceptions regarding parking on any land designated as forest preservation or parkland and that the Mayor notify all current and future violators with a letter. All Commissioners were in favor of the motion.

Pine Avenue

John McClelland initiated a discussion regarding illegal use of Town Avenues for parking. Vicki Andrews moved that the gravel at the end of Pine Avenue on Brown be removed and replaced with sod. All Commissioners were in favor of the motion.

Commercial Corner

The owners of Twice As Nice, a consignment shop selling antiques and clothing, are contacting the Board of Appeals for approval to move into the Commercial Corner with the support of the Town Council and the Planning Commission.

Report from Town Council

Darrell Anderson reported that no barriers or legal action had been initiated by the Town Council against the Nagems at 104 Maple Road. He also reported that the Nagems intend to cut down a tree located on Town property. The Commissioners discussed the situation and expressed a desire to have the Council deal with the issues by putting up a barrier on Cherry Avenue to prevent the Nagem’s illegal business activity and/or to take legal action. Darrell Anderson agreed to bring up the issue with the Council at their next meeting.
