20 May 2003 | Approved: 17 June 2003

Present: Bob Booher, Clare Cavicchi, Chris Kirtz, David Neumann

The meeting began at 7:00 p.m. on Tues, May 20, 2003. David Neumann took minutes.

The timetable for reviewing building permit applications was discussed. A proposal by Mayor Compton was presented by the Chair. The proposal seemed to contradict the HPC ordinance slightly. This caused some debate among the members. The Chair decided to postpone consideration until later in the meeting. A copy of the proposal is attached to the minutes. There was additional discussion and the Chair decided to discuss it further with the Mayor. It was noted that the timetable conforms to the timetable with which we are currently operating.

Missy Yachup presented her plans for the remodeling of her house at 211 Maple Avenue. The architect is Ralph Hurst. She brought plans and a cardboard model. This greatly facilitated the review. It was determined that the structure is non-contributing. The review will be written by one of the HPC members.

Maggie Range brought her plans for No. 8 on the Circle to the meeting and presented them to the HPC for review. These plans were discussed. They were not the final plans. Changes would still be made. The commission members discussed whether we could write a review based on plans that were preliminary for such an important contributing structure. Ms. Range asked that we do our best to expedite our review, as she wanted to start work as soon as possible.

The chair pointed out that the Mayor had asked that a historic preservation expert advise the Town and the HPC on the plans for 8 on the Circle.

Dan Snyder and Kristin Montgomery were present at the meeting and interested in purchasing a "flag" lot off of Ridge Road. They showed us their plans for a large structure on Lot 12. They had not yet decided on purchasing the lot.

Next meeting to be Tues June 17, 2003 at 7:00 pm.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
