Joel (Jim Carrey) discovers that his ex-girlfriend Clementine (Kate Winslet) has undergone a procedure to erase him from her mind; heartbroken, he decides to have the same procedure. What follows is a wholly original, alternative universe dealing with the malleability of memory and the persistence of love lost.
