Here are some actions you can take to help keep your home warm and use less energy:
🏠 Nudge your thermostat down at night and when you’re away from home.
🏠 Drafts cause discomfort and waste energy. Insulate ducts and block air leaks around windows, doors, and electrical sockets. To plan a home energy audit to reduce energy waste in your home, see Schedule a Home Energy Audit.
🏠 Manage your shades, blinds, and curtains: open them to welcome the sun’s rays to warm your home and close them when the sun recedes.
🏠 Reverse ceiling fan blades from their summer rotation. For winter, set blade rotation to clockwise to circulate heated air and warm the room.
🏠 Preserve sink and tub hot water till it’s cooled. Don’t send your heat down the drain.
🧥 Another layer to keep you warm is easy to do and can save a degree or two of home heat.
Even small steps help lower our carbon footprint.
