Summer in the Parks (SITP)
SITP 2024
(See general information about the Camp below).
Washington Grove’s popular day camp, Summer in the Parks (SITP), will be held this year on weekdays, July 8, 2024 – August 1, 2024, from 9 am to 1:30 pm. The family camp-out will be held (weather and interest permitting) the evening of August 2 through the morning of August 3.
Campers will enjoy all-ages crafts, games, sports, and nature activities (including time spent at Maple Lake!) Camp is open to rising Kindergarteners through rising seventh graders, both residents and non-residents.
The cost for residents is $250, and we welcome non-residents for a fee of $350. Grandchildren of residents are permitted to pay the resident fee, and financial assistance is available for those who need it.
All campers must:
- complete and submit a Registration Form, and
- complete and mail a Waiver and Release Form (PDF), together with payment, to the address on the Registration Form
For decades, Washington Grove’s Summer in the Parks (SITP) program has provided children with the opportunity to spend a summer month playing games, making arts and crafts, spending time at Maple Lake, and, best of all, making new friends. When the children become too old to attend the camp, they often continue as volunteers or counselors.
Please register your camper(s) by June 1, 2024. Direct all questions to the Camp Moderator, Eva Patrone, at [email protected] or (504) 220-1760.
SITP is also looking to hire for a few paying staff positions, as well as non-paying volunteer positions. Please find links to the job descriptions below:
- Camp Director (age 21+)
- Senior Counselor (age 18+)
- Junior Counselor (age 16+)
- Volunteers (age 14-19)
The Camp Director position is perfect for an energetic, organized college student or recent college graduate with experience working with kids and a desire to plan and implement programs for children. This is not a desk job! It’s perfect for teachers, those with a background in education and/or leadership, and those working on a degree in education.
Interested in applying for a position at camp? Please fill out this job application form no later than April 10 for paid positions and May 5 for volunteer positions.
General Information
For decades, Washington Grove’s Summer in the Parks (SITP) program has provided children with the opportunity to spend a summer month playing games, making arts and crafts, spending time at Maple Lake, starring in a Grove-worthy entertainment production, and best of all, making new friends.
SITP is available to children entering kindergarten through 7th grade. Most participants are children who live within the town limits, but each summer children from outside the Grove also attend and share the magic. When the children become too old to attend the camp, they often continue as volunteers or counselors to help teach the younger generation what they’ve been lucky enough to experience in previous summers. Summer In the Parks is staffed by paid directors and camp counselors, as well as volunteers.
