Bob Booher, Mimi Styles, Wendy Harris and David Stopak Councilor Joli McCathran was not present as Town Council Liaison. The meeting began at 7:30p.m. Bob Booher took minutes.
Approval of Agenda and Adoption of Minutes
The proposed agenda was modified and then adopted unanimously. Minutes for the February HPC meeting were not available.
Project Reviews
Members reviewed a permit application from Liz Robertson for a new free-standing garage at xxx Brown Street The Review will be submitted by Mimi Styles.
Council Report
No report.
PC Meeting Report
Mimi reported on several items from the PC meeting. The garage application was examined at the meeting and action was deferred until receipt of the HPC Review. Two bids were received for the repairs to the Hall and decision was to be made at the subsequent Council Meeting. Streetlight shield requests are being declined by Pepco. There was discussion regarding a possible height violation of the Shank’s new garage. The PC will have to have it measured by the Inspector. Jim Snider has submitted an address change to Montgomery County who in turn informed the Town. No action was recommended at this time.
Permit Procedure

Deer Park Bridge
Bob reported on progress the Bridge Work Group has made. Meetings have been held with both CSX and MARC to discuss improvements to Railroad Street and the area at the MARC station. Both organizations appear very receptive to working with the Town on coordinating these into an overall plan that would have support. The County will also be contacted to ascertain their level f support.
Towne Crest
Bob reported on the days of testimony and the overall assessment of the Town’s team. The record was scheduled to be closed April I, after which the HE will provide her comments. It will likely then proceed to the County Council for determination.
Town Hall Repairs
Georgette has expressed interest in pursuing any grant support we can identifY. Gail hd previously indicated that the Maryland Historic Trust has possible grants available.
Preservation Maryland
A tour was scheduled for March 20 for two members of this organization. Shelley Winkler and Wendy volunteered to provide the tour. Determination of the inclusion on their 11 Most Endangered List for 2013 is anticipated. We should strategize on how to use the award to help in our communications with the other Historic Preservation jurisdictions.
Annual Award
Mimi will assemble the year’s construction applications for the next meeting to decide on the annual award.
WAMU
WAMU interviewed Joli McCathran for an episode of their Saturday spots on interesting neighborhoods in
the DC area.
